Welcome to Tillamook County - land of trees, cheese and ocean breeze.  The county was named after the Tillamook Indians who lived in the areas surrounding the Tillamook and Nehalem Bays.  When early settlers saw these green valleys in 1851, they recognized that Tillamook’s mild climate, abundant water, and year around pastures were perfect for raising dairy cattle.  Today, dairy farming remains a way of life in Tillamook County, with over 150 family farms providing the milk used to create the finest ice cream, and the world renowned Tillamook® Cheese.

Recreational opportunities range from the most exhilarating to the most relaxing, from sail boarding to sightseeing; from motocross to museums; from catching salmon to just catching some sun rays, which are sometimes more elusive.  In addition, our coastal communities offer shops full of local and unique products, art, antiques, exquisite restaurants, and home cooked meals.

We have clamming, hunting, beautiful beaches to walk, sunrises and sunsets to watch, surfing, kayaking, hang gliding, and five rivers that flow into the Tillamook Bay that make fishing a must. The blue Pacific Ocean offers boating, fishing, and beachcombing pleasures. Campers and hunters enjoy spacious parks and green forest lands.

The major physical features of Tillamook County are a rocky and irregular coastline, stretches of coastal lowlands, and heavily timbered mountains which comprise the main span, and several spurs, of the Coast Range. Principal industries are agriculture, lumber, fishing and recreation. With seventy-five miles of coastline, four bays, and nine rivers, recreational and tourist opportunities are numerous.

Tillamook County Online strives to put everything all together.  We are a central source to locate community information web sites such as local government, media sites, schools, non-profit organizations, sports and youth groups, clubs, medical information, local attractions, and arts and entertainment events.

If your business, church, school, government office, service club, civic organization, or local charity is not listed, please contact us and let us know what information should be added.  We want this site to be as complete as possible.  Take some time and look at all the information this site contains.  Look at our advertising possibilities.
